Soon???

So this is not soon, and I likely won't be writing a long update. I can't even remember the last thing I wrote about. I think it was Lucy's doctors appointment...and it's already almost time to have another one! The girls are growing like weeds, and although they are not gaining a lot of weight (still only 19-Lucy and 21.5-Kate lbs) they are stretching up and are a little over 2.5 feet tall. We still love to spend time with them but now like breaks in between. I wasn't that far off when I called them the monster twins while still in the womb. We used to recite the rhyme "there was a little girl who had a little curl right in the middle of her forehead and when she was good she was very very good and when she was bad she was horrid" to Lucy due to the fact that before her hair grew she had a curl...but now I think that rhyme applies to both of them in a big way. One thing that's apparent though despite their very different personalities they are both going to have a crazy sense of humour!

Anyway, so for the update. I can't even remember November, December was a whirlwind before leaving for our 16 day visit with my (Liv) family in Moncton. That was fun, and far too short. The Christmas tree didn't end up having decorations past the middle, which was fine by me...my aunt Loney had the ingenious idea to fill up that bottom part with their toys which looked just right with three little kids running around every day. (My sister Megan's son Devlin being the 3 child at 8 months). We had lots of relaxing days, and lots of visiting with my cousin's Sarah and Ben which I'd been craving and one very fun and somewhat painful sledding excursion. :) I was also treated to several snow storms which I quite enjoyed not getting to partake in many out in Vancouver.
The flights with twins were interesting..not to bad on the way east but terrible (mostly) heading west. Either way we were very relieved when we touched ground. I can certainly understand why they don't allow more than one child per adult! (for kids under 2). I still can't decide if our delayed departure for Vancouver (due to the girls getting sick on departure day #1) was a good thing or not...regardless I am doing it again! I will be back in Moncton, for a month this time, in July.
January was very busy as well, catching up with friends and family kept us busy every weekend that entire month and many weeknights as well. I was temporarily laid off from my work until they got more work which allowed me to do some work for another archaeologist, who I am still working with. This time I get to work from home. I was initially apprehensive but have found it to actually be quite rewarding, although I still have babysitters! I don't know when or if I will be returning to the previous job...I will just wait and see.
I can't even recall what happened in February really and it just passed! More of the same I am sure although we had more quiet evenings and weekends. The girls continue to grow and surprise us with their understanding of what goes on around them (not always a good thing) and they talk more and more (although most people can't understand them and even less people can understand the slight inflections the differentiate one word from another at times). They also continue to get stronger, I could swear Lucy does chin ups the bicep strength that little one has. They are in beds now for the most part rather than cribs due to Lucy's climbing antics. When they were small we thought Lucy would be more rough and tumble than Kate, as Kate seemed more laid back but I was proven wrong. Kate is just as rough and tumble if not more so and she has an even stronger stubborn streak...at least for now. We are currently having quite a bit of trouble with the 'violence' with both girls, especially Kate whose bullheadedness comes out when she hears no. They are just SOOO rough and don't quite understand yet that those kicks, slaps, bites, hairpulling etc. hurt...although I was quite surprised when they started lashing out at each other or us...or just throwing things when they don't get their way! We've been trying to really crack down on all those behaviours but I imagine it will take time.
March has been fun so far. My little sister Megan was able to come visit with Devlin for 2 weeks and those weeks really flew. We mostly stuck around home for her visit as it is not her first time visiting Vancouver although we did go to the aquarium with my friend Shannon which was a lot of fun with the kids. We all enjoyed it...and having the extra person there was great for help! :) Chris and I got ourselves a Wii for our birthdays them being so close together and we also spent a fair bit of time playing that. Let me tell you, the first few days after getting it Megan and I were so sore from all the sports we played! It's the first time I've ever really enjoyed video games. I still don't know if that is bad or good. :) Megan left a few days ago, and I am having a birthday get together in a few more days so March is a good month.
Now lets see what spring brings!
