After being quasi-depressed after my last summer's visit to New Brunswick about not likely seeing my family again for 2 years I have been quite pleased about how wrong I was. My Dad decided he just could not going without seeing the crazy and constantly changing twins and showed up on my doorstep Dec. 24th. This was a feat as there were snowstorms coast to coast and most airlines were shut down and many people were stranded at airports across the country. Dad was lucky. He stayed for 2 weeks and I missed him when he was gone...and again I resigned myself to no family for awhile... Then a heard that my brother and his wife might be visiting...which eventually was confirmed. So they will be here this coming weekend, yay, for a week long visit. In the meantime my other little brother Garrett had been chatting with his employer and he got sent out for a working visit for all of last week. Yay, lots of family. I have been pretty pleased with it all! There is also a chance Garrett and his sweetheart of a girlfriend Evonne might be visiting again this summer. Yay again!! (well, yay if it happens).
In other news a phone call to my girlfriend Sarah back in NB back on Jan. 27th finally kicked me in the butt to get potty training the girls and stop being so lazy about it (they've been ready longer than me, sigh). They are now pretty much completely potty trained but mostly run around bottomless, indoors only of course. (even when I put pants on them they come off rather quickly). So THANKS SARAH!
What else, I've taken a non-archaeology job being a handyman with my friend John. I'm actually enjoying it quite a bit, it's fun...and I get to hang out with my friend a lot. It's also very flexible, which is great with the kids. I'm learning lots of useful stuff too, bonus.
Hmmm, we got a cat. One of my fosters. She's an abbysinian. Her name is Salihah (Saleea), though we mostly call her Sali. She is now 4.5 months old...and still sick, she's had a cold since we got her in December. I am also fostering another abbysinian Alice. She is pregnant and due today actually. The kids LOVE the cats, and Alice HATES Rusty...therefore Rusty gets attacked a lot...enough to make him blubbler and avoid her but he's yet to get a scratch.
Uh, fish tank is doing fine. Still enjoying it. Always things happening for me to stay interested, or annoyed/concerned. The interest lies just in the activity in the tank, but the annoyance is that I am currently fighting brown slime algae that is coating everything and trying to kill my xenia coral. I think I'm winning that battle though. The concern is my hammer coral is not getting as swollen during the day as it was, and my finger leather coral I bought when my dad was here still has not decided if it wants to be happy in the tank or not. Other than that all is well.
I think that's all the excitement here!
